Questions and answers from customers

How long does it take for Ivomec Injection to work?

  1. Q How long does it take for Ivomec Injection to work?
Asked by Chloe on July 25, 2024 11:22 am
    Answered by the admin

Ivomec Injection For Cattle starts working to treat parasites in cattle almost immediately after administration. However, the time it takes to see the full effect and maximum efficacy varies depending on the targeted parasite. Ivomec Injection is highly effective against internal parasites, with effects typically seen within a few days of administration. For external parasites, Ivomec Injection efficacy is generally observed within 4-5 days. However, it's important to note that engorged female ticks that drop off the cattle within the first few days post-treatment may still lay viable eggs. This should be considered when planning a tick control program.

  6. Is the 'Ivomec Injection for Cattle' safe for sheep and chickens?
  7. Q Is the 'Ivomec Injection for Cattle' safe for sheep and chickens?
Asked by Tim on January 3, 2022 12:59 pm
    Answered by the admin

Ivomec Injection For Cattle is only registered for use on Cattle.  There are different formulations of Ivermectin registered for safe use on sheep.  These contain less ivermectin than the injectable cattle drench and are formulated for oral applications.  Sometimes these sheep drenches get used for drenching poultry, however, this is 'off-label', not recommended and at your own risk.

  • Needles (12-15mm) in length are suggested for SC injections.
  • Maintain cleanliness at all times.
  • Administer under the skin into the neck region and preferably high up behind the ear.
  • Injection should be made only under the loose skin in an area away from the more valuable carcass muscle.

  • Do not underdose.
  • Treatment of very young animals (less than 40kg bodyweight) is generally not warranted.

  • Not to be used for any purpose or in any manner contrary to this label unless authorised under appropriate legislation.
  • Animals should be restrained to ensure that treatment can be properly administered.
